How to Root Galaxy Note N7000 ICS 4.0.3 XXPLY

All Galaxy Note N7000 users who are on ICS 4.0.3 XXPLY  firmware can now root their device. Over a period of this article, we would be checking out a detailed tutorial for the same. Also, once you root your device, the warranty gets void and the only way to revoke the root access is by re-applying the official firmware update. And the advantage of rooting is that once the device is installed with the CWM recovery, you can install Custom ROM firmware in your device and also other apps which require root access.

Pre-requisites to Root Galaxy Note N7000 on ICS 4.0.3 XXLPY Firmware

  •  Make sure that the device on which you are applying this update is Galaxy Note N7000 and not any other device by Samsung or any other company.
  • We recommend you to backup all your contacts, back, logs, etc. with Backup apps.
  • You can import your data to your phone’s SD card and later on you can export it back.
  • Make sure that your phone has sufficient battery, at least 80% before you apply the update because if your phone will get switched off between of the time you are applying the update and you won’t be able to update your device and even you could face several issues like your phone gets DEAD and we won’t be responsible for that.
  • Enable USB debugging on your phone. Follow the path Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging and USB debugging would be enabled on your mobile device.
  • Also uninstall your antivirus suites in your computer as well as on your mobile phone so that update process may not get interrupted meanwhile.
  • Make sure to follow all the instructions mentioned below properly.

Pre-requisites to Root Galaxy Note N7000 on ICS 4.0.3 XXLPY Firmware

  •  Firstly Download XXLPY 4.0.3 Rooting Package and Odin for Galaxy Note to your computer and after that extract the rooting package and open Odin in your computer.
  • Turn off your phone so as to enter into download mode.
  • To enter download mode, press and hold, Volume Down + OK + Power button and a green robot will display on your screen which means that download mode has been entered onto your device. If a warning message appears, ignore it and press Volume up to continue into download mode.
  • After your phone enters download mode, connect your phone to the computer with USB cable and ensure that Odin is open on your computer.
  • As soon you will connect your phone, you will see that ID:COM section in Odin is turned yellow.
  • In Odin window, click ‘PDA’ to select the Gingerbread CF-Root-SGN_XX_OXA_LPY-v5.3-CWM5.tar” which you would find in extracted ZIP file and then click ‘start’ to start the process of firmware update.
  • It would take few minutes to complete the process of firmware update. After the firmware update is done, the phone would reboot automatically.
  • Now turn off your phone and enter your device into recovery mode by pressing and holding Volume down key + OK + Power button.
  • After you enter into recovery mode, perform a wipe by selecting ‘wipe data/factory reset’ and then ‘wipe cache partition’ on the next screen.
  • After you perform the wipe, restart your phone by selecting the option of ‘reboot system now’ and your phone would restart.
  • You’re done with the update!
